Gravity Rush 2 Release Set For December 2nd On PS4

Sony and the Japan Studio revealed today that the official release date for Gravity Rush 2 will be set on December 2nd, 2016 for the PlayStation 4 in North America. Europeans get a few days early on November 30th and the Japanese get it on December 1st.

Over on the PlayStation Blog they SIE’s associate product manager Brian Dunn dropped some word play onto the post to pimp the upcoming third-person adventure title from Sony’s Japan Studio. Not only that, but he revealed the official release date for the game arriving here in the West.

According to Dunn pre-orders are up and open and they have some interesting goodies available for those willing to lay down some coin early, writing…

“Those who pre-order the game from participating retailers will receive alternate white costume DLC for Kat, as well as the Select Soundtrack featuring nine tracks from the game. Pre-Order on PlayStation Store‎ starting August 2 and get an instant reward of 10 PSN avatars from the game.”

10 PSN avatars sounds like a good deal. You won’t be able to get in on that deal until August 2nd, though… it’s just a couple of weeks away.

They also revealed a new three minute trailer featuring all new gameplay of Gravity Rush 2, with Kat and Raven tag-teaming on bosses and beating the crap out of giant mechanical monstrosities. Scope it out with your own two viewing-balls below.

That trailer is full of all sorts of crazy action. What’s more is that the firm but lanky lady in white is another new character that players will encounter in their journeys. She comes to the aid of Kat throughout her adventures in Gravity Rush 2, and is described as being somewhat of a superhero with a wild and crazy fighting style.

She has a few abilities all her own that helps distinguish her from the other two girls, but nothing so significant that it completely devalues Raven or Kat.

If I’m being completely honest, her outfit looks like a Swedish fitness model cosplaying as an angel pretending to be a cowgirl imitating Zorro.

Anyway, you can look for the game to arrive in the West starting December 2nd later this year. It’s just outside the manic holiday shopping season rush in November, but still just before the Christmas frenzy ends at the end of December, so there’s still some money to be made.

Ahead of the game’s release Sony will also be releasing an anime produced by the same minds behind Evangelion at Studio Khara called Gravity Rush The Animation: Overture. It will supposedly bridge the story gap between the first and second game, and help fill in some gamers who didn’t originally play the PS Vita release.
