Weekly Famitsu Reveals Serpico And Schierke To Be Playable Characters In Berserk

The Weekly Famitsu recently published a couple of scans showing off two characters that will be joining Berserk’s character roster. With the obvious implementation of Guts, Griffith, Judea and Casca, both Serpico and Schierke join the above as playable characters in Koei Tecmo and Omega Force’s upcoming game. Berserk will be playable this year in Japan on September 21st, for PS3, PS4 and PS Vita. The West will also gain support for the game with a Fall release, and will be playable on Steam via PC, PS4 and PS Vita.

That’s right, the Weekly Famitsu produced a small report showing two new images that detail the characters Serpico and Schierke. The latest issue of the publication confirms that they are both playable characters, although Schierke was quite obvious in being a playable, seeing how she was shown in various screenshots using different magic. As for the adept fencer, he will also join the fight in Koei Tecmo’s Musou-based game.

This now brings us to six official playable characters, which consist of Guts, Griffith, Judea, Casca, Serpico and Schierke. I’m sure the devs will release more information on the game in the near future, as of now, we just have these couple of screenshots to hold us over, as seen below.

Previously, we also learned that battles won’t be like typical battles and will call for more than just tactics, but another level of understanding to survive these battles of “certain death”. In addition, other means will help the players out by surviving, which comes in the form of the more you fight the more powerful you’ll become.

The game will focus on brutal combos, which is nothing new in a Musou-based game, seeing how in games like Dynasty Warriors you could, and still can, rack up a crazy combo meter — especially with a character like Huang Zhong.

This now brings us to the combo meter… enabling players to split their enemies into two and crushing them beneath you, if your combo meter is high enough. I’m sure this will help out with the Apostles, seeing how the devs noted that they will be over powered and hone attacks that will make every encounter a “tense battle”.

With that said, the game will be playable on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita on September 21st, over in Japan. As for the Western release, no given date has been provided yet, but it will drop sometime this Fall for PS4, PS Vita and on PC through Steam.
