Demon Peak, Metroidvania Platformer Now On Greenlight

Are you a fan of retro-style 2D Metroidvania games? Developers Kajak Games has recently submitted their new side-scrolling, action platform game, Demon Peak, to Steam Greenlight.

Demon Peak looks like a pretty interesting hack and slash platform game. Not much is known about the story yet, except that the player character is on a mission to explore the mountain of Demon Peak and slay all the evil monsters that stand in the way.

The game features a fast-paced combat system that allows you to perform combos, unleash powerful charge attacks, block incoming enemy attacks and strike with your own dash attacks to wipe out your foes. The art style and animations are fluent and I love the monster designs, it reminds me a bit of the old Chakan The Forever Man (but not as dark). The developers have a gameplay trailer put together, so check out the game in the linked video below.

If you think Demon Peak is cool, the developers have released a free playable beta demo that you can download and play from their official website so that you can really get a good feel of the game and see what it has to offer. The developers say that the Demon Peak demo features one area for you to explore, a couple of Power-ups, two enemies, and a boss monster fight.

The developers also say that they have support for both keyboard and gaming controllers to match your preferred playstyle, and that the full game will feature plenty of boss battles, different areas for you to explore, and they tease that the game will be challenging to keep you on your toes with the quote “No mercy given, no mercy expected”.

If you would like to support Demon Peak you can also head on over to their Steam Greenlight page to learn more about the game and cast your vote to help them make it onto the official Steam store. The full game for Demon Peak will launch sometime in late 2016 or early 2017.
