Not too long ago producer Akihiro Suzuki took to Twitter to announce that information about Dynasty Warriors 9 would be coming soon. Well, another announcement for the announcement for the official announcement has been set for May 11th through another tweet by Suzuki.
Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have a lot of people in deep anticipation for Dynasty Warriors 9, which will feature new characters and could possibly sport brand new mechanics that have never been seen before in the Dynasty Warriors series… however that’s crossing over into the speculative side.
What is known is that the game will be set in an open world and will feature 83 characters, among them will be Zhou Cang, along with several more new playable characters. This was announced by Koei Tecmo’s Masaki Furusawa and Akikiro Suzuki during an interview that’s up on Famitsu.
Speaking of other publication sites, around the same time as the interview with Famitsu went up website Games Talk posted up a list of changes that the company is currently working on for the game, which was featured on this site before:
“All of China is reproduced. While the Chinese land is a vast one, there are a lot of mountains, so places where battles can take place are limited. For this reason, they’re creating places like Hulao Pass and Zhongyuan in detail.
Know-how is shared within the company. Because the nature of the open world is different from that of Toukiden 2, that technology cannot be used as it is, but that which can be appropriated will be utilized.
They want to change input methods such as Square button for a standard attack and Triangle button for a charge attack. The concept of “being a match for a thousand” will remain, so something like Musou Ranbu will remain.”
As of recent, producer Suzuki tweeted that more information regarding Dynasty Warriors 9 would be coming May 11th — as seen below.

No platforms or release date has been set yet, but I’m sure all of that information should be revealed during the May 11th report on Thursday. Unless of course, they have another event for that, but only time will tell.
