The follow-up to the 2014 release of the indie side-scroller The Fall is set to arrive on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, Mac and Linux starting in the early first quarter of 2017 next year.
Developers Over The Moon announced that the game would be on its way, continuing where the last game left off.
In the original game players took control of an AI named ARID who ends up embodying a damaged combat suit worn by an injured human. ARID ends up in a global network where she must find a suitable host, controlling various robots along the way before her life force runs out.
John Warner, the director of Over The Moon, commented in the press release about their plans for the sequel, stating in the press release…
“The Fall Part 2: Unbound takes everything we learned with The Fall, adds to it and improves on it exponentially”
“After seeing the reception The Fall received, we knew that people were excited to see ARID’s journey of self-discovery continue. We want The Fall Part 2: Unbound to deliver a thought-provoking story that will linger with players long after they finish the game, with gameplay that’s as fitting with that story as it is addictive.”
Apparently the game hit it off well with the gaming audience across home consoles and PC, prompting Over The Moon to proceed to work on the sequel.
While the second part of The Fall is still a year out from release, there is a debut trailer that you can check out below, which is basically an accolades recap.
Considering that a lot of people did not know about The Fall and have not played the first part for themselves, Over The Moon decided to discount the first part of the game across all the available platforms over the next couple of weeks.
They don’t say how big the discount will be or how long it’ll last in the press release, but if you check the Steam store right now you’ll see that the game is discounted by 90% off the original price for only $0.99. So be sure to check the respective stores for the platform you own to see how big of a discount the game has received.
