Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 is a JRPG from Idea Factory and Compile Heart with ecchi themes, 60fps gameplay, colorful graphics and a cast full of characters using fancy weapons and wearing high-tech risque outfits. The game recently joined the ranks of its fellow brethren (or sisters) on the Steam storefront, and fans of the series are loving every minute of it.
The game allows players to engage in a brand new story, with brand new characters, the new combo system, the ability to modify dungeons for near infinite replayability, and a detailed crafting system. You can see the game in action below.
As noted by Hey Poor Player, the game previously had its roots on the PlayStation Vita, but managed to receive a 1080p upgrade for its PC port, along with all of the game’s previously released DLC.
Fans love the game even despite the recycled themes being present in the previous outings. Oftentimes in the user reviews they compare this outing to Pokemon.
A user named Progression wrote…
“Someone complained Neptunia Rebirth series are bunch of recycle environments and monsters. Probably he doesn’t play Pokémon during childhood. I bought it just to enjoy the Neptunia stories.”
User James_Skyminer, obviously a name a few clicks north of Skywalker, was fine with the similarities between the previous games and enjoyed it nonetheless, writing…
“Alright, since this is 3rd title in the series, if you’ve played the first 2 games in the series, you know what you’re getting: a comedic, self-aware JRPG with cute girls and yuri undertones.
“Overall, it’s more of the same and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. The animations are improved, and it’s just fun.”
The interestingly named Leikkikalu stated…
“It’s a boob(and sometimes not so much boob) filled game with witty dialogue and very entertaining characters. Maybe a sinch of fanservice sometimes, but you won’t be overwhelmed by it. The story is goofy, funny and original. You’ll be surprised at times, I know you will. The gameplay is quite fun too, even if it might be a bit grindy. Also, if you are thinking of buying this game before the earlier ones, you really shouldn’t. Just play the other games first, then come back here. I guarantee you’ll have a great time with this series.”
The general theme is that if you’re really steeped heavy into the Otaku culture associated with the Hyperdimension games then you’ll easily enjoy this title. If not? Well, there’s obviously going to be a walking simulator at least a few pages down and to your right.
But BakaBryan basically sums it up by saying that gamers who enjoyed the previous outings will undoubtedly find enjoyment in this PC port, writing…
“If you enjoyed playing the previous Hyperdimension Neptunia games, then you’ll love this one as well”
The game is currently available right now on the Steam store for $29.99, but for the first week of being on sale you can grab it for 40% off the normal price for only $17.99. You can learn more by paying a visit to the game’s official website.
