A leak over on the Steam sub-Reddit by user MrFreemanBBQ has suggested that the Steam Summer Sale will commence on June 23rd and will run up until July 4th. That gives you one entire month to save up all the pennies you can scrounge from your couch and add them to your Steam wallet.
There’s an accompanying image by MrFreemanBBQ to prove that the date is apparently legitimate. The image comes from an e-mail sent out by Valve toward a developer. Based on the Cyrillic language used in the e-mail, it was pretty easy to guess that the developer was Russian… an indie dev no doubt. You can check out the image below for proof of verification.
It should be noted that this particular leak has not been verified by Valve, but some websites are reporting that MrFreemanBBQ has a solid rep for leaking start dates for the Steam sales. This news was corroborated by the SteamDB, according to a report by PC World, where the SeamDB sent out a tweet mentioning the following.
Since "confidential" means nothing to certain Steamworks developers, Steam Summer Sale will start on June 23 and will last two weeks.

The SteamDB has had a great track record of giving gamers a heads-up on new games coming out and titles added to the Steam through the developer backend. It’s how we found out that titles like Danganronpa and King of Fighters XIII were coming to Steam.
If the image is correct and SteamDB is to be believed, then you can expect to participate in the Steam Summer sale starting June 23rd and for the next two weeks stock up on games until July 4th.
