Cemu 1.5.2 Download Silently Sneaks Out For Patrons

The developers behind the Cemu Wii U emulator have sneakily let loose the Cemu 1.5.2 update for their patrons supporting them on Patreon. A week from now the emulator will be available to download for the general public.

Over on the GBA Temp forums they note that some minor fixes have been made while some minor problems have surfaced. A few games have seen minor improvements while other games haven’t seen any improvements at all, according to some of the Patreon backers.

A couple of people noted audio issues in games like Shovel Knight and Yoshi Wooly’s World running in 1.5.2, while others posted up their results of running the latest version of the emulator with games like New Super Mario Bros. U. You can check out the video below from YouTuber reznoire.

Others tried their luck with games like Super Smash Bros on the Wii U, but the game still runs well below acceptable levels, clocking in at around 14 through 15 frames per second on average.

Karavusk posted up a seven minute video showcasing Super Smash Bros in action, which includes some surprisingly detailed environmental effects, character renderings and shader displays. Functionality wise, everything seems to be where it should. You can see the game in action below.

That’s running on an i7 5820 at 4.2ghz and an AMD R9 390x with 16GB of RAM. So it’s not running on a potato.

Even still, the Cemu has a long ways to go before it’s emulating Super Smash Bros as efficiently as it emulates games like Mario Kart 8. Speaking of which, reznoire posted up a video showcasing Mario Kart 8 in action on the Cemu 1.5.2, which you can view below.

As you can see, performance wise, the game runs great and the frame-rate is practically pitch perfect. The sound is also almost close to 1:1, but there is still some noise and glitches in maintaining the quality of the audio playback.

If you want to get your hands on the latest version of the Cemu and you don’t want to wait for the public release, you can head on over to the Patreon page and donate $5 to get your hands on the emulator and start downloading Cemu version 1.5.2 right now.
