Double Eleven Limited ported over Prison Architect to the Xbox One, following closely on the release of the PS4 version of the game. But today the game has gone live on Microsoft’s home console. Gamers can grab a copy of the prison management simulator right now for the not-so-low price of $30.
Prison Architect originally released back in October in 2015 by Introversion on PC. The game – even well before its official release – managed to sell more than a million copies and even managed to make the small-time indie developers more than $19 million in sales. Earlier this year they had announced that the game would be arriving on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One home consoles, giving wannabe architects a heads up about the popular Prison Architect making the leap from PC to console.
The game recently came out back on June 28th for the PlayStation 4, and now the Xbox One is getting the title, even if it’s only just a few days late behind Sony’s machine.
The object of the game is to run an effective prison. Keep the inmates fed. Keep them busy. Get them rehabilitated. Sounds simple right? Well, when you have to deal with rising costs, safety concerns, health issues, sanitation and soap dropping, it’s hard to maintain that fine balance and keep the prison profitable.
Thus, Prison Architect is the SimCity of prison simulators, balancing aesthetics and prisoner happiness with efficiency and productivity.
A few people over on the Major Nelson blog were complaining about the price for the game, but a few others who already own the PC version of the title stuck up for the developers, claiming that the price-to-content ratio is not too high, not too low, but just right.
You can get your hands on a copy of the game right now for the Xbox One or PS4… or you could go the super cheap route and get the game during this year’s Steam Summer Sale for 75% off the normal price, which means you can grab the title for only $7.49 from the Steam store. It seems pretty obvious which one is the better deal if you have a halfway decent PC made within the last 10 years that can run the game. For more info feel free to visit the official website.
