A recent update over on the Kickstarter page for Wayforward Games’ Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has revealed that after November 29th the release for Shantae is basically set in stone and they’re looking to get the game up and out to the general public as quickly as possible.
They announced on the update page that Shantae: Half-Genie Hero‘s development was complete and that it’s scheduled to release on the PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One and on Steam for PC. It’s crazy that they have plans on rolling the game out on so many different platforms, but that’s what the Kickstarter backers paid for.
The game was originally crowd-funded back in September of 2013 to the tune of $776,000. The game has been in development for the past three years since, leading up to the big moment for its release on home consoles and PC.
As mentioned on the Kickstarter page, they plan on getting Shantae out to Kickstarter backers as early as possible, writing…
“The game has been submitted to Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Steam, and digital storefronts are being created. Because this is a global release, we’re working with teams in each territory to establish a unified release date. We’ll let you know the INSTANT we find out when the game will be live! And this probably goes without saying, but of course we’ll do everything in our power to get the game released to backers early.”
They urged gamers who have been thinking about changing their platform to let them know as soon as possible, giving gamers up until November 29th before it’s all locked down and locked in.
The game is a belly-dancing, action-platforming sprite-based adventure game that really seems to have captured the imagination of the gaming community. They don’t have a specific release date set for the Half-Genie Hero but it’s expected to come sooner rather than later.
