If you own Dishonored 2, there’s a free update available right now featuring the all new mode, New Game+. This mode will allow you to play the game over again as either Corvo or Emily, and you get to use the powers of the other character. It’s a sweet new addition to the game.
Bethesda and Arkane Studios previously announced that they would be releasing two free updates for Dishonored 2. The updates add a number of fixes, changes and improvements to the overall game, but most importantly the New Game+ will allow you to take on a completely different playing style thanks to the ability to mix and match the Void powers from Emily and Corvo.
Beyond this free update they’ll also have another free update set to arrive in January that will introduce the new Mission Select, so you can choose which mission you want to do with your saved game, and there’s the Custom Difficulty Settings that allow you to customize the game’s challenges to suit your playing style.
It seems kind of like those last two modes should have been in the game from the start, but I guess it’s better late and free than late and premium, eh?
Some AAA games charge you for extra difficulty settings, endings, characters, cheats and unlockables, so it’s sad that we have to stand up and clap when a developer implements gameplay features that used to be standard fare back in the 1990s.
Anyway, Arkane Studios and Bethesda have plans on rolling out further details for the second free update for Dishonored 2 in the upcoming weeks. If the current update arrived on December 19th, then they’ll likely have plans on pushing out the second free update sometime in the latter half of January.
You can pick up Dishonored 2 right now for the Xbox One, PS4 or PC, either digitally or from select retailers.
