How To Get Halo Wars: Definitive Edition On PC Without Buying Halo Wars 2

After people stopped asking and caring about the original Halo Wars being on PC, Microsoft decided to jump onto an empty bandwagon and give PC gamers Halo Wars: Definitive Edition for Windows 10.

The release of the Definitive Edition arrives as part of a bundle ahead of Halo Wars 2, which is due for release this upcoming February in 2017 for Windows 10 and Xbox One.

There’s a bit of a catch for playing Halo Wars on PC, though.

According to Blues you have to pre-order Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition in order to get your hands on the old RTS. The pre-order is available over on the official Microsoft Store.

They note that you can pre-order the bundle to gain access to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition and then cancel your pre-order for Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition.

They note that after pre-ordering the game, the code for Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be delivered to your account between 7 and 10 days of placing the order…

“Pre-order the Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition and receive Halo Wars: Definitive Edition. The codes for Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be delivered to your Xbox message center in 7-10 days from pre-order, beginning December 20, 2016. Redeem your code on Xbox One, Xbox.com or the Xbox App on Windows 10.”

Technically that’s not too bad. You just pre-order the game from the Microsoft store, wait a week or so to get the code in your Xbox messaging center and then cancel the pre-order.

It’s probably best to take advantage of this offer before it’s too late and Microsoft makes where you have to pre-purchase Halo Wars 2 in order to get Halo Wars: Definitive Edition on PC, a little like how Activision made people actually buy Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in order to get the HD remaster of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Anyway, you can look for Halo Wars 2 to launch on PC and Xbox One starting February 21st in 2017.
