Injustice 2 Not Releasing March 28th, Says Director Ed Boon

Studio director and co-founder of NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, took to Twitter to shoot down rumors that have been spreading about Injustice 2 for Xbox One and PS4.

Over on the official Xbox Games on Demand website Microsoft listed Injustice 2 as having a March 28th, 2017 release date. This was taken as gospel by some and spread throughout the interwebs like a fiery pee disease spread through a garrison stationed in Vietnam’s red light district. The news didn’t get far enough before Ed Boon, from NetherRealm Studios, took to Twitter to shoot down the rumor, stating the following.

There were a lot of hopes being crushed like the waifu dreams of weebs who read that Overwatch Christmas comic.

The reality is that we don’t know when Injustice 2 will launch. What we do know is that Microsoft seems to have pulled a trigger on putting release dates on games that may not necessarily have stable release dates yet.

They listed Mass Effect: Andromeda as having a March 31st date, along with putting South Park: The Fractured But Whole at March 30th.

The release date quagmire didn’t seem to resonate quite the same way with the BioWare camp for Mass Effect: Andromeda. So far they’ve yet to confirm or deny the release date news, and have so far been more-so focused on whether or not the game will arrive on the Nintendo Switch, where Gameranx reported that producer Mike Gamble from BioWare stated…

“Yeah, not right now, no. We’re not planning on it. If the Switch launches and everyone’s just yammering for Mass Effect, who knows. We never want to close doors like that.”

Well of course Gamble would say that, especially given that the Nintendo Switch seems to be gearing up to be the blockbuster tech device of the spring (assuming it launches for $250 or under).

As for Injustice 2? Well, they recently gave the female faces a digital cosmetic surgery upgrade, and we still have no idea what the full roster looks like yet. So March 28th is likely too soon for a game like that and I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with an April or May release instead.
