The Dark Link outfit from the previous Legend of Zelda games can be acquired in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The outfit puts Link in the typical green tunic but he’s basically wearing black-face. There’s a quick guide to help you unlock the outfit for the Wii U and Nintendo Switch version of the game.
So first up, you’ll need to travel to the East Akkala Stable. Speak to Hoz and he’ll direct you to a shop called the Fang and Bone, which only shows up at night.
You’ll need to teleport to the Zuna Kai Shrine at skull lake, which is at the top of the map to the far northeast at the top of the mountain. It’s just north of Deep Akkala, as showcased in the video guide below from YouTuber Austin John Plays.
From there, paraglide down to a small isle just on the side of the mountain where the temple is. You’ll find the peddler at the Fang and Bone on a little island.
As mentioned in the video, Kilton the shop owner will only appear with his giant multi-colored balloon between 9:00pm and 4:00am, so time your journey there properly, otherwise you’ll miss him.
If you talk to Kilton and tell him how much you love monsters, he’ll let you know that he’ll begin to appear around Kakariko Village, Hateno Village, Rito Village, Gerudo Town, Lurelin Village, Lake Akkala and Zora’s Domain.
Kilton will disappear and reappear at one of the aforementioned locations between 9:00pm and 4:00am.
Talk to him and he’ll explain that he’ll give you mon currency in exchange for your monster parts. This is what you’ll use to buy items from Kilton.
Now, in order to acquire the Dark Link set, you’ll need to complete the four Divine Beasts quests at the four corners of Hyrule. Once it’s done Kilton will offer to sell you items from the ”dark series”.
The dark series of items are very expensive, and you’ll need 1,999 mon for the hood; 999 mon for the tunic; and 999 mon for the dark trousers.
So what does the Dark Link outfit do? Well, you get a slight speed boost when using the set at night. So if you need to run a little faster from the cops, you slap on your Dark Link gear. It’s nothing too special but a lot of people like finding Easter Eggs like this in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
