Nier: Automata System Requirements Are Extremely Modest

If you thought you would need a super-rig in order to play Nier: Automata, the new game from Platinum and Square Enix, think again. You can skedaddle by with a $350, so long as it has an adequate enough graphics card attached.

Square let loose the official system requirements over on the Steam page. They detail that you’ll only need an i3 with 4GB of RAM to run the game on the minimum specs. The only thing that might give you a bit of a hassle is the GPU, in which case they recommend a GTX 770. or an R9 270x.

Minimum Requirements:
OS: Windows 7 /8.1 /10 64bit
Processor: Intel Core i3 2100 or AMD A8-6500
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 VRAM 2GB or AMD Radeon R9 270X VRAM 2GB
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 50 GB available space

Recommended Requirements:
OS: Windows 8.1 /10 64bit
Processor: Intel Core i5 4670 or AMD A10-7850K
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 VRAM 4GB or AMD Radeon R9 380X VRAM 4GB
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 50 GB available space

Very modest specs. Even the GTX 770 can be acquired for a little over $100 depending on where you shop around. However, something tells me even a GTX 750 should suffice.

While many games have stacked requirements, such as needing 8GB of RAM as a bare minimum even when the game looks like trash, Nier: Automata actually does not need that much memory. So even those of you playing on laptops should still be able to dive into the game without requiring any major upgrades.

The game has been receiving a lot of high marks from actual gamers who have put time and effort into the title after it released a couple of weeks ago in Japan. The story and characters have been celebrated, and the gameplay (which is the most important aspect of any game) has received a lot adulation from gamers looking for a title with depth and challenge.

They do note over on the Steam page that there’s an “Auto Mode” for beginners, so even if you’re leery and extremely trepiditious about the skill requirement for a hack-and-slash game like Nier, don’t worry… they have you covered.

You can look for Nier: Automata to launch on March 17th on Steam for PC.
