If you own a physical copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the Xbox 360, you can take that bad boy and slap right into the disc drive of your Xbox One and begin playing the game as if it were 2012 all over again… also known as the year in which gaming suffered the feminist inquisition of St. Sarkeesian.
The news was posted up over on the official Xbox News Wire, where Will Tuttle – a former member of the GameJournoPros – detailed how you can play and access the game from your Xbox One, as well as some deep discounts they’re rolling out as part of the celebration of the game being made available as part of the backwards compatibility family.
If you don’t own the game you can pick it up at half-off the normal price right now on the Xbox Store. If you have Xbox Live Gold you can get the game for 60% off right now. The discount will last up until April 17th.
One of the striking features of the game that gave it a strong sense of appeal, was that it continued the story that was originally told in Call of Duty: Black Ops I. However, this time around players had the choice of making key decisions that would alter the outcome of the game.
This typically resulted in gamers getting a lot more play-time and playability out of Black Ops II because a lot of people want to uncover the multiple endings based on the branching choices you could make in the story mode. It was very similar in structure to Activision’s True Crime: Streets of L.A. Also Cliff Lin’s “This is War” perfectly matched that reveal trailer above.
The typical fast-paced, run-and-gun action that was present in the previous Call of Duty games returned, and for the first time the series really took that leap forward by diving head-first into the whole future warfare thing.
The strong sense of replayability coupled with the typical Call of Duty multiplayer component easily made Call of Duty: Black Ops II a fan-favorite and one of the best-selling entries in the series to date, managing to accrue $1 billion in sales revenue over the course of just two weeks, as reported by Forbes.
You can start playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 right now on your Xbox One or grab the digital copy from the Xbox Store.
