As part of a dual-pack bundle, players can gain access to the new hard mode in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in the upcoming The Master Trials DLC, along with the second DLC pack due out this holiday season, for the combined price of $19.99.
Nintendo announced that both DLC packs will only be available as part of the DLC bundle for $19.99.
Both packs will launch within the 2017 fiscal year, and the first pack, The Master Trials, will be available this summer for both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Wii U.
According to Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s senior VP of sales and marketing, he mentioned in the press release…
“Whether you have already completed the adventure or are just getting ready to paraglide into Hyrule for the first time, this new downloadable Expansion Pass makes this massive game even bigger and more engrossing,”
Hollow words from Mr. Bowser.
Anyway, you will have to pay for the game’s hard mode.
I never thought I would live to see the day that Nintendo would stoop down into the bowels of consumer mockery like Microsoft and Sony, especially when it comes to pushing out standard-fare features as paid DLC, but I guess that’s what happens when a businessman like Mr. Kimishima takes over a company like Nintendo.
Regardless, the hard mode the enemies are made more difficult by being more aggressive, as well as having recharging health. Enemies will also spot Link from further distances and stealth will be more difficult to pull off.
The Trial of the Sword mode will also introduce 45 challenge rooms where he will start with no weapons or armor and must defeat increasingly difficult enemies until he clears all the trials.
The first DLC pack will also include eight new pieces of equipment, with items themed after Midna, Tingle, Phantom and Major’s Mask, and a new Korok Mask that can be equipped.
A new Travel Medallion will be introduced where players can teleport to and from their current location, and a new Hero’s Path mode will be available, which records a player’s path for up to 200 hours of play-time. The purpose of the mode is for those who got lost or those who need to follow their footsteps in order to reach a certain location again.
Exact details on the launch date and the second DLC pack will arrive sometime in the near future.
