A petition with more than 221,000 signatures has requested for the White House to formally recognize the anarcho-communist group Antifa as a terrorist organization.
The petition is currently up and available over on the White House Petition website, where if a particular topic gets more than 100,000 signatures, a spokesperson from the White House will address the topic matter.
The petition description is rather simple, but it gets directly to the point, explaining…
“Terrorism is defined as “the use of violence and intimidation in pursuit of political aims”. This definition is the same definition used to declare ISIS and other groups, as terrorist organizations. AntiFa has earned this title due to its violent actions in multiple cities and their influence in the killings of multiple police officers throughout the United States. It is time for the pentagon to be consistent in its actions – and just as they rightfully declared ISIS a terror group, they must declare AntiFa a terror group – on the grounds of principle, integrity, morality, and safety.”
For those of you unfamiliar with Antifa, they’re a anarchist group advocating for anarcho-communism. They’re attempting to fight for the abolition of structured capitalism and hierarchical democracy.
Many mainstream news organizations have opted not to aggressively report on the violence Antifa has been committing around the globe, including the rioting that took place during the G20 Summit at Hamburg, Germany where they burned cars and looted buildings, as depicted in the video below from Ten Fold.
Antifa was also present at the “Battle for Berkeley”, where various riots and violence broke out following protests over not wanting Milo Yiannopoulos to speak at the university. Video footage of the protest and ensuing fight was captured by WeAreChange.
Additional footage of Antifa’s violence was compiled into a near 20 minute video, which was uploaded by the House of Peasants, which shows masked Antifa members vandalizing commercial businesses and destroying public property.
More recently, Antifa was involved with the battle at Charlottesville, where Antifa and Unite the Right faced off.
With the petition reaching over 220,000 signatures on the White House website, it will be fascinating to see if Trump’s administration properly comments about Antifa and their rising tide of violence.
