Project CARS 2 Will Be Graphically Better On Xbox One X Vs PS4 Pro, Says Dev

With all the settings maxed out and the sliders turned up to the top, Slightly Mad Studios is convinced that Xbox One X gamers will get the bigger, better experience from the Xbox One X.

The news comes courtesy o fan interview that game director Stephen Viljoen had with Trusted Reviews, where he stated…

“Our engine inherently is scalable, so on the PC we expose that to the player, so going into performance options on the PC, you can see there’s things that you can take from low to ultra, for example track and car detail. So there’s a ton of settings, so what we do is we use that when we target a new platform and we set that optimally for each platform.

“I can’t tell you exactly what all the various sliders will be at when you’re on Xbox One X versus on PS4 Pro, but obviously they’ll be higher, so there will be a significant, a noticeable improvement, because you have better hardware.”

It’s quite refreshing to hear a developer finally talk honestly about objective truths based on factually discernible differences between the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro: The Xbox One X is simply more powerful.

For those who decide to invest $500 into Microsoft’s mid-gen refresh, Slightly Mad Studios is committing to the fact that their upcoming simulated racing game will offer better visuals on the XBX thanks to the improved specs in the system. Sumo Digital had also previously stated that the Xbox One X was better for 4K gaming over the PS4 Pro.

It should come as no surprise that this is the case, but in today’s market where the media tries to tell you that the ground is orange and the sky is brown, you can never truly trust information prima facie. Then again, there also cases like where Bungie purposefully downgraded Destiny 2 to only run at 30fps on the Xbox One X while uncapping the frame-rate on PC.

In this case, however, those planning on getting Project CARS 2 on home consoles would be wise to avoid the PS4 Pro version. While they mention scalability and the options between the various versions, the one thing they don’t say anything about is whether or not the PS4 Pro will have a 60fps option?

Either way, at least you now know not to go with the lesser version on Sony’s system, just like you know not to go with the vanilla Xbox One version unless you want low resolution and poor frame-rate to contend with.
