Reports have surfaced that the wireless mini-adapter for Xbox One controllers on Windows 10 systems has been delayed.

Windows Central reports that the U.S., and Canada will have to wait until January 31st, 2018 before they can get their hands on the accessory. Australia and New Zealand will be able to get the adapter this September, starting next month. Japan will receive the adapter first, arriving next week on August 24th.

We reported back on August 3rd that the Xbox One wireless mini-adapter was originally set to release on August 8th, 2017.

The adapter will still be available for $24.99, but now you’ll have to wait until next year to get your hands on one.

The adapter is just like the previous Xbox One wireless dongle that was released a while back for Windows desktop PCs. The difference between the original and this newest one is that the newest one is a lot smaller, making it less likely to get caught on things, or end up breaking as you’re moving around your laptop.

Some gamers asked if it would be better to connect the Xbox One controllers via Bluetooth, but one thing you have to deal with when using Bluetooth is that there are some serious synching issues you have to deal with when it comes time to re-synching the controller with the Xbox One. For people who simply want to synch fast, play hard, and then synch back to their Xbox One, the wireless mini-adapter seems like a good way of going about it.

Anyway, a lot of gamers are curious what exactly happened that caused the North American version to end up getting delayed by five months. There’s no real explanation and Windows Central only notes that even the January 31st, 2018 date is possibly tentative, meaning that it could end up being a placeholder date. Hopefully Microsoft can get things sorted because a lot of people really wanted to get their hands on the wireless mini-adapter.
