Crytek’s Warface Is Getting A Battle Royale Mode

Anyone remember the free-to-play military shooter game from Crytek called Warface? Well, apparently since no one remembers it Crytek decided to give it a facelift by adding a Battle Royale mode to the game, all in a desperate attempt to help breathe some life into it.

The Battle Royale mode was introduced in a post over on the official Warface website.

Don’t get too excited, though. The update featuring the mode will only be available for a limited amount of time. I don’t know why the Battle Royale mode will be available for a limited amount of time but you’ll only be able to play it during the allotted window provided by Crytek.

There’s a brand new map to accommodate the feature, and it will have a dynamic dead zone so that players will be forced to move around as time dwindles down and enemy encounters become more prominent.

Like other games such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or Fortnite, the Battle Royale mode in Warface will be Last Man Standing, and will see one player against all as they attempt to vie for the supremacy of survival against their opponents.

They also have plans on adding all new achievements for players to unlock, specific to the Battle Royale mode.

According to the post the first roll out of the mode in the next update will be used to gauge player feedback and then make improvements for when (or if) the mode makes a return later on.

The Battle Royale basically helped elevate Fortnite into relevancy after a long and forgettable journey through alpha testing. The mode has also made PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds the best selling single-platform game of the year. So there’s definitely benefits to pursuing the mode and given how badly Crytek has been hemorrhaging funds, it definitely makes sense that they would want to lure gamers back into the fold of Warface anyway they can.
