ARK Aberration Guide: How To Tame Karkinos, Collect Gas And Get Species Z Seeds

Studio Wildcard’s ARK Aberration is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. If you want to know how to tame the crab-like creature the Karkinos, craft the Gas Collector, and get Species Z seeds, hopefully this guide will help you.

Starting off with the Karkinos, this thing has a lot of Torpor and will take body shots to slowly raise its Torpor without killing it. Upon hitting its legs you will deal more damage to it.

This body damage multiplier calls for you to trap it in a square box of pillars, walls or something tall and somewhat wide so that you can focus on hitting its body with catapult stones.

Once it is knocked-out, simply feed it “Kibble Carbonemys Eggs” and you should have it tamed. To ride it you will need a saddle at level 65; the rest of the Karkinos taming guide sits below thanks to Fresonis.

You will first need to reach level 40 to gain access to the Gas Collector. Cementing paste (60), Crystal (40), Medal Ingot (75), and Red Gem (20) will be your components to create this Gas Collector.

Go to the smith station and click on the Gas Collector tab and use the above resources to create said item. Moreover, to actually use a Gas Collector you must head to a Gas Vein — smoky areas with a small rock structure poking out from the ground — and put the device on the Gas Vein.

This machine will create Congealed Gas Ball resources, as seen below thanks to Mitt Gaming.

Lastly, the Plant Species Zed or Z illuminates its surrounding areas when grown in a crop plot. To obtain seeds from this plant, simply find one and stand near it for a while without performing any actions and it should shoot out a seed.

Pick the seed or seeds up and plant them in a crop plot until you have a Plant Species Z of your own. A guide showing the collection process sits below courtesy of Mitt Gaming.
