Imagine paying $60 for a game. Now imagine a couple of months later some of the features that you once enjoyed are now locked behind a $34.99 season pass, including higher difficulties and certain versions of the dungeon raid. If that makes you fume like the steam coming out of an old 1930s cartoon character, well you can imagine how Destiny 2 players felt when that exact same thing happened to them when Bungie and Activision launched the Curse of Osiris.
It’s being reported that Bungie made a post on December 12th, 2017 indicating that they will allow vanilla owners of Destiny 2 who have not purchased the Curse of Osiris to be able to play the Prestige version of the Leviathan Raid again, and you’ll be able to play Trials of the Nine without any restrictions save for if the map is from the new expansion pack, and the normal version of Nightfall will no longer require the expansion but the Prestige version of Nightfall will.
In the post, Bungie explained…
“The Prestige Raid was a novel experience that players value, even if they don’t own Curse of Osiris, and it was a mistake to move that experience out of reach. Throughout the lifetime of the Destiny Franchise, Trials has always required that players owned the latest Expansion. However, for Destiny 2, Trials of The Nine launched as part of the main game, so it’s not right for us to remove access to it.
“To make matters worse, our team overlooked the fact that both of these mistakes disabled Trophies and Achievements for Destiny 2. This was an unacceptable lapse on our part, and we can understand the frustration it has created.”
So basically Bungie is now taking out the giant black plug that they stuffed up the butthole of their community in an attempt to pull a fast one on anyone who didn’t own Curse of Osiris.
This follows close on the heels of Bungie also screwing up with the whole XP scaler scandal, which is following them around with the sort of stigma that Bryan Singer has when he follows around teenage boys.
Anyway, Destiny 2’s content-lockout will be hotfixed with update 1.1.1.1.
