Star Citizen Alpha 3.0 Troubleshooting Basics

Now that Roberts Space Industries and Cloud Imperium Games have released alpha 3.0 to the public, a lot of people have been putting in time and energy into playing Star Citizen’s latest alpha build. Well, after some gamers managed to get their hands on the new alpha build, they’ve been encountering a number of issues and have been looking for some Star Citizen 3.0 troubleshooting tips and guides for getting the game to run properly.

For the basic start-up troubleshooting, RSI has a guide on how to get started over on the RSI community page. It covers getting onto the website, logging in, downloading the new launcher and using the new PTU password to access alpha 3.0.

The guide also covers some of the basic error codes you might encounter, such as error 14004, error 0x1004, and error 30007. Some of the them have fixes, such as selecting different game servers, or opening ports TCP 8000 – 8020 or UDP 64090 – 64110, as well as whitelisting the launcher in the firewall, but some of the other errors don’t have fixes just yet.

If you receive a black screen when attempting to load into an instance, they suggest reloading into a different server to fix the problem. If the game freezes while attempting to launch while using Window s7, they suggest using Aero mode, or run the launcher as an administrator.

If you’ve been scoping out any of the videos on YouTube, you may have encountered some of the videos from gamers who have run into massive stuttering, as demonstrated by Josiah Kelsall.

The system requirements are pretty steep and require 16GB of RAM and a quad core i7 for the best performance, even though some of the system requirements suggest only 8GB of RAM.

However, there’s an offline workaround for Star Citizen 3.0 with stable frames. YouTuber CenterStrain01 offers a workaround by playing the game without a server by copying the following line into the desktop shortcut for Star Citizen:

“C:Program FilesCloud Imperium GamesStarCitizenPublicBin64StarCitizen.exe” +map DFM_Crusader

You can see how the game runs with the video below using the code above.

The downside is that you won’t be able to play online with other people using this workaround.

Additionally, the AI is tied to the server, so you won’t have them fighting back if you encounter them while traveling throughout the galaxy.

If you find yourself having trouble with your credits, there’s a fix for that as well.

Youtuber BoredGamer offers a look at how to acquire aUEC in 3.0 after you’ve lost it due to cargo bugs. The short four minute video gives you a quick rundown of how to reacquire aUEC fast and safe.

Go to port Olisar, and each of the kiosks there will buy and sell items. Each of the vendors have different prices.

So basically, go to the trading console and make sure your ship is on the landing pad but not put away. Buy a low-price commodity and then go to the other side of Olisar and sell the commodities through the different vendor station if they’re willing to buy the commodity for more than you sold it. The trick here is that if your ship is still on the pad you won’t have to worry about getting in and flying anywhere since it will still read the cargo on the ship so long as its still docked at Port Olisar.

You can essentially move back and forward through different landing pads on Olisar, buying/trading/selling commodities from the various vendors without having to leave the port, and making a profit in the process.

It’s a cheap exploit to use for now if you’ve lost your aUEC since you don’t have to actually travel anywhere or worry about losing your ship to pirates or pesky PKers.

Star Citizen’s alpha 3.0 is available right now for backers.
