The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Xbox One X Update Adds 60fps Performance Mode

CD Projekt Red announced that two new modes have been added to the Xbox One X version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Much like the PS4 Pro update from a while back, CD Projekt Red has now enabled advanced graphics options for the Xbox One X version of the game, so if you enjoy tweaking and troubleshooting your graphics options just like the PC version of games – but without the option to play at 8K and 120fps – then you’ll enjoy the new advanced graphics settings for The Witcher 3.

The two main modes are selectable from within the display settings off the options menu while you’re on the main menu.

If you scroll down to the “Advanced” tab, you’ll find that you’re able to swap between 4K mode (with super-sampling for non-4K displays) or performance mode. The 4K mode increases the graphics fidelity but does so at the expense of frame-rate, inhibiting the game to run at a capped 30 frames per second. The performance mode allows you to go all out at 60 frames per second.

Additionally, the Xbox One X update adds HDR support, which will also be arriving for the PS4 in a separate patch.

The Xbox One X version will also run at a bare minimum 1080p, which is all anyone could ask for. So finally Xbox gamers will know what it feels like to play a quality made game at 1080p and 60fps.

CD Projekt Red also bumped up the texture resolutions, enhanced the ambient occlusion, raised the anisotropic filtering, and improved the shadow resolution.

Additionally, since the game isn’t running native 4K, it will use dynamic resolution scaling to adjust the render rate for the Xbox One version depending on what’s going on on-screen. You can enjoy the patch right now or learn more by visiting the official Witcher website.
