Monster Hunter World: How To Defeat Xeno’jiiva Final Boss

Capcom’s Monster Hunter World has managed to make quite the dent as far as game sales are concerned. The popularity of the game across Xbox One and PS4 has been attributed to its large and beautiful landscapes, weighty gameplay, and engaging multiplayer. However, not everyone has been able to get through some of the more difficult parts of the game, and some gamers have been looking for some help with the final boss, Xeno’jiiva. Thankfully, there’s a guide available to teach you how to defeat the final monster.

YouTuber Shirrako has a near hour long video covering the final boss fight, which you can check out below.

Accept the Land of Convergence quest and proceed into the quest once you’re ready. It’s probably best to eat a good meal to boost your stats before starting the quest so that you have an extra bonus when it’s time to go on the hunt for the monster Xeno’jiiva.

Once you get into the map, go talk to the Seeker. When you’re ready to start the hunt, accept to take the boat ride.

You’ll only have 50 minutes to complete the mission, but it should only take you just under 30 minutes to complete it.

Monster Hunter World - The Seeker

The main boss has a tail-whip, a long-range fireball attack, and a front claw attack.

The best course of action in the early going of the fight is to stay underneath the Elder Dragon between his front and hind legs. You’ll need to attack his two front legs or his tail. However, the safe bet is to start with the two front legs and keep attacking them while staying behind the front legs but in front of his hind legs. This will protect you from many of his attacks.

If you’ve done it successfully, the Elder Dragon will switch attacks, and begin shooting fireballs at a rapid pace on the ground to zone you as well as using its laser fire breath to cordoned off parts of the cave to limit where you can move.

At this point it’s best to start attacking the Elder Dragon’s tail while he shoots his laser fire off. During his projectile blasts the tail will be completely exposed and ripe for some hacking and slashing.

After you keep this up for a while, the boss will change its tactics again.

It will start rearing up on its hind legs and attacking and breaking the ground beneath it while using its fire to blow up the entire areas underneath it. DO NOT stay underneath it to attack it from here on.

Keep your distance and wait for it to stop moving and then proceed to attack its legs or tail. Keep an eye out for when it rears up on its hind legs to avoid getting blown up.

Keep this up until the the Elder Dragon does one final blast and exasperates itself from the attack. This will transition into the next phase of the fight. The dragon will fly off into a new area.

Continue to attack the dragon’s front legs or its tail. In fact, you should be able to cut off its tail if you focus your attacks on it. However, DO NOT attempt to harvest the tail during the fight, otherwise the Elder Dragon will purposefully go out of its way to do maximum damage to you while you’re attempting to slice up its severed appendage.

The dragon’s attack patterns will focus mostly on shooting its fire breath at you and stomping around.

When it leaves its arms open, unleash on it with your strongest attacks until it falls down.

After a while it will get enraged and will begin scrambling around attacking ferociously. Keep out of its way while it does the wild attacks against you or in any general direction.

Eventually it will calm down and will go back to a more predictable pattern of shooting fireballs and flying around to attack you. When it flies in the air you can run around behind it to avoid being caught in the AOE blasts.

Once it lands keep up the attacks against its arms and legs until it falls over on its side. When it’s down, proceed to go all out on its belly.

Also, don’t be afraid to use the ice ramp to get up close and personal on its head to do additional damage.

Keep this up until the boss finally dies. It should take on average between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on the weapon you’re using. For larger, harder hitting weapons it will go by a lot faster, for smaller, quicker blades expect it to take longer.

You’ll have about a minute to slice and dice some pieces off of the monster’s body once you finally defeat it.
