Shibuya Productions Teases Shenmue Surprise In February

President and founder of Shibuya Productions, Cedric Biscay, announced via Twitter that their work with Ys Net on Shenmue 3 is winding down and that they expect to have the game completed for PS4 and PC at some point later into 2018. While we already knew that the game was set to appear in the latter half of this year, what a lot of people didn’t know was that there are apparently more surprises in store.

Biscay announced that they have surprises for 2018 but obviously doesn’t disclose what it is.

Given that the picture shows the PS4 controller, a lot of gamers assume that one of the surprises will be an HD collection containing Shenmue 1 and Shenmue 2 for the PS4.

Both games are long overdue for some sort of remastered edition and are actually two games that probably deserve more than many others.

If you check out the official Shibuya Productions Twitter page, they have a follow-up tweet noting that some of those surprises will take place on February 24th, 2018 next month at the Monaco Magic event.

Is it likely that we’ll see the Shenmue related announcement then? Or will it be something entirely different? It’s kind of tough to tell but given that Ys Net is gearing up for the release of Shenmue 3 on PS4 and PC during the second half of 2018, it would be a nice lead-in to have an HD collection of the first two games made available for current-gen systems (and Steam) to help catch gamers up on the events that took place in the previous two titles.

For now we have to wait until February 24th to find out what they have in store.
