Final Fantasy 7 Remake will now feature a different looking Cloud, which has been changed to resemble his “original design”. Director Tetsuya Nomura is noted saying that this is the closest design to the original Cloud up until now. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is set to release for PS4.
It is reported that during the 30th Anniversary Exhibition, Director Tetsuya Nomura and development leader Naoki Hamaguchi explained why Cloud’s design had to change in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
Thanks to publication site GameRant it is said that Nomura and Hamaguchi stated the following information about Cloud’s old look:
“While Cloud may look this way, he was a dork. I believe those of you who played the the original would understand what I mean by saying he’s a dorky character.”
Cloud’s new look was shown during Final Fantasy “Farewell Stories” 30th Anniversary Exhibition at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo. Nomura showed off some screenshots revealing changes to Cloud, which remain in secret due to the new images having been held behind closed doors.
It will be interesting to see this new Cloud and how he looks, but sadly we’ll likely have to wait some time before actually seeing the new Cloud in the remake of Final Fantasy 7.
At this point, it’s unclear if other characters will receive a re-touch up to their design or if Cloud is the only one? At this point it wouldn’t be wrong to think that other characters will see a change in design given that Cloud just received one.
In the meantime, while we wait for leaked images of the new Cloud design to show up or official ones by Square Enix, what do you think of Final Fantasy 7 Remake? Do you think that this whole thing is a mess or do you think that it will turn out to be something better?
