If you like Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive’s 2017 action RPG, The Surge, it has been confirmed by the developer and publisher that The Surge 2 will release sometime in 2019 for PC and home consoles.
Catching wind from publication site GameRant we learn that Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive will release the second Surge title next year for PC and the latest home consoles.
The only glimpse that reveals The Surge 2 is artwork — as seen above as the header image — showing a figure standing in a desolate city, where a supercell tornado forms in the distant sky with tendril-like things springing forth from it.
Aside from the above screenshot very little is known about the upcoming game, which is expected given that the game is a year to two years out from release.
What has been shared about The Surge 2 is words from Focus Home Interactive that the game will flaunt new mechanics. You can read what the publication site posted Focus Home Interactive saying about The Surge 2:
“The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original – hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system and deep character progression – while also expanding greatly upon the formula.”
Simply put, the second game will expand on the first Surge’s combat system. Expect changes that might expand the mechanics for combat and progression to new heights.
“The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck13’s upgraded and improved engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with even more options thanks to an expanded limb targeting system.”
According to Focus Home Interactive, new environments will be larger and more ambitious than the first title. No word on what changes have been made, but due to the upgraded engine expect improved designs.
“In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.”
Lastly, new weapons and upgrades will be present to help fight against new enemies and bosses.
The Surge 2 is currently set to drop in 2019 for PC and the latest home consoles.
