Vanquish, Brave, Lara Croft Join Xbox One’s Backwards Compatible List

Three more games have become backwards compatible for the Xbox One, including Platinum Games’ Vanquish, Disney’s Brave, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.

The news was made available via a tweet sent out by Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, who shared the news on February 20th, 2018.

These three titles aren’t random either, given that Brave will also be one of the free games handed out during the month of March as part of the Xbox Games With Gold program. I can’t imagine anyone but feminists standing up and cheering for that one. Plenty of groans will likely pass around the typical sectors of the gaming industry, though.

Even still, if you missed out on Vanquish back before when the game first came out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 eight years ago, you can grab a copy for the Xbox 360 and play it on your Xbox One. In this regard, backwards compatibility really is a great way to take a trip down memory lane and play the game given that you don’t have anything else better to play on the Xbox One when it comes to a sci-fi, action-oriented third-person shooter.

There’s also Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, but most people aren’t going to be too concerned with that game. It may be a throwback to the real Lara Croft, but it’s also a much smaller title that isn’t anywhere near as immersive or visually engrossing as Tomb Raider Underworld.

Anyway, if you were curious about which games are currently available as backwards compatible titles on the Xbox One, you can check out the full list over on the Major Nelson blog.
