Ubisoft wants to play the silent game when it comes to information for The Division 2’s gameplay before E3 2018. The company has disclosed that gamers and fans of the first Division will not gain any information on the forthcoming second title any time soon.

Ubisoft announced The Division during E3 2013 and a lot of people were curious to see more. Early on the game seemed unique and interesting, gathering a lot of anticipation ahead of its release. Well, after its March 8th, 2016 release for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, another story erupted, with plenty of gamers disappointed with the final offerings.

The game faced an unfortunate path as players began to drop from the fold and went on to other games. Reports from publication sites such as PCGamesN, GameSpot, and GameRant reported that after The Division’s launch came a mass player drop.

In an attempt to stifle fan speculation and what the second game might feature, The Division 2 creative director, Justin Gerighty, confirmed that a fuller reveal “with tons of information” is planned for E3 2018. There will be no further announcements from now until then.

This promotional run reflects that of Bethesda’s Fallout 4 appearance at E3 2015 and its November release, where the team stayed mum until the reveal of the game. I say this because Gerighty announced via live stream that The Division 2 has been in development for over two years, making the silent project ready for a possible late 2018 or early 2019 release — unless something major pops up causing a delay.

According to Gerighty about The Division 2, he noted that…

“It wasn’t an easy decision, but there are so many stories and so many experiences that we want to explore within the world of the Division that we really felt a sequel was the best way to explore these things.”
