Larian Studios has teamed up with Bandai Namco Entertainment and announced that the tactical, isometric-RPG, Divinity Original Sin 2, is coming to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 in August.
The news came as part of the PAX East hullabaloo taking place in Boston, Massachusetts. Larian informed the console gaming community that they’ll be able to take part in the Baldur’s Gate style adventure later this year. And yes, Divinity Original Sin 2 is like the true Baldur’s Gate successor that fans of the old BioWare have been desperately waiting for.
The news was accompanied by a minute long trailer, which you can check out below.
The trailer covers some of the locations featured in the game, and the various and unique cast of characters that will join your team along the way.
If you grew up playing Baldur’s Gate and enjoyed the isometric, interaction-driven gameplay and strong character-based narrative, then you might find yourself easily engaged with Divinity Original Sin 2, especially without having to worry about being bombarded with a lot of the politics that have invaded gaming from the Regressive Left, better known to most gamers as Social Justice Warriors.
One of the key differences between Larian’s RPG and the classics from Black Isle is that with Divinity Original Sin 2, you can fight enemies across multiple vertical layers of the environment, which creates a wholly new dynamic of tactical combat strategies and unit placement.
The console version will also sport the ability to drop-in and drop-out of games with the co-op feature, there’s a local split-screen mode allowing two players to play through the campaign together, and there’s also a PvP arena for those who want to test their mettle against other players online.
You can look for Divinity Original Sin 2 to launch this August for PS4 and Xbox One. The game is currently already available for PC via Steam and GOG.com.
