Fallout 4: New Vegas Mod Still In Development; Progress Detailed

If you happen to enjoy playing Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment’s Fallout New Vegas, the new mod that seeks to convert Fallout 4 to New Vegas is still in development and making progress. The devs behind the mod in question elaborate on progress made, and what could happen in the mod’s future.

The PC mod that managed to dodge conflicts with Bethesda or Zenimax, Fallout 4: New Vegas, is still going strong unlike its sibling project, Fallout 4: The Capital Wasteland, which was a Fallout 4 conversion mod that would see it totally converted into Fallout 3.

This information was reported on f4nv.com, where excerpts of the update can be read over right here:

“As many of you likely know, our sister project, Fallout 4: The Capital Wasteland, has indefinitely halted development on their mod. This follows discussions with Bethesda that indicated that the method both our project and theirs were intending to use to extract and port the audio from Fallout: New Vegas/Fallout 3 was not allowed.

We’ve been aware of this issue for a couple of weeks, and have spent the time exploring options for Fallout 4: New Vegas. After long internal discussion and consultations with intellectual property lawyers, we have finally come to a conclusion.”

The conclusion after the long talks and consultations has lead the team to a decision that will let them continue development on the Fallout 4: New Vegas mod. The following information details plans for the VA team and what could potentially show up at launch:

“Due to the way that the Voice Acting Team will be operating separately from the core project team, this means that their work will be included as it is ready. While this will mean that certain parts of the game will be fully voiced far ahead of schedule, other areas may end up lagging behind. As a result, F4NV releases may end up going out without voiceover recorded for certain characters, depending on where our VA Team stands at any given point in time. While disappointing, we feel that this approach best allows us to keep the project on-track, while also allowing us to maintain a high standard of quality within the project.”

As for post-launch content and DLC, the Fallout 4: New Vegas team answered a query in regards to DLC. A certain user by the name of Farris wanted to know if players will be able to come and go to the Sierra Madre after completing Dead Money:

As noted above, DLC isn’t much of a focus, although DLC isn’t ruled out; a top priority is to complete the base game.

Lastly, folks who are on consoles like PS4 and Xbox One will not be able to take part in the Fallout 4: New Vegas adventure. As explained by one of the members of the team to a fan named Troy, this mod will be for PC.
