Ubisoft Reports That Far Cry 5 Is Its Fastest Selling Far Cry Game

Ubisoft has taken the time to publish numbers on the success of Far Cry 5, a game that went live in late March. It’s now being claimed to be the fastest selling Far Cry game ever. Far Cry 5 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Even if websites or reviews gave Far Cry 5 a bad score because the game itself didn’t fit into a specific “narrative” or whatnot, it seems that people really wanted to explore Hope County, Montana, to fight a cult or take part in multiplayer action given the game’s latest statistics from Ubisoft.

The official post published on April 4th over on news.ubisoft.com breaks down how total sales for Far Cry 5 have doubled the first week sell-through of Far Cry 4; making Far Cry 5 the fastest selling title in the Far Cry series history. Ubisoft would go on to explain:

“Digital distribution accounted for more than 50 percent of Far Cry 5‘s sales. Far Cry 5 now represents the biggest ever launch for a Ubisoft game, following Tom Clancy’s The Division, with $310 million in consumer spending through the first week.”

Furthermore, Ubisoft also announced “record-breaking numbers” of user engagement regarding Far Cry 5 content. The game is reported to have been streamed long enough to accrue millions of views. This is said to be a record for a Ubisoft game in a week following launch:

“In addition to the strong first week of sales, record-breaking numbers of people are engaging with Far Cry 5 content. People streamed more than 55,000 hours of Far Cry 5 on Twitch and YouTubers’ videos earned more than 117 million views. Both are records for a Ubisoft title in a week following launch, and evidence of the impact user generated content is having in convincing players to join the Far Cry community.”

Overall, if you are leery about jumping into the Far Cry community and want to shape your thoughts further on Far Cry 5 to see if it’s a game worth picking up or skipping, you do best watching some gameplay videos. Additionally, this should help you understand what you’re about to get into story and multiplayer wise.
