It looks like the wait for Shenmue 3 will be that much longer… yet again. But the good news is that publisher Deep Silver and director Yu Suzuki have taken to a blog post to inform gamers and fans alike why Shenmue 3 for PC and PS4 will release sometime in 2019.
Some gamers are saying that Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is scaring other publishers and developers away into the year 2019, while other gamers believe that publishers and developers are polishing up their games to be well received.
Whatever your take is on the current situation, there’s no denying that a lot of games are being delayed. With that said, Shenmue 3 publisher, Deep Silver, and director, Yu Suzuki, have come forth to explain why the once 2018 game will launch in 2019.
Here’s what Deep Silver had to say about Shenmue 3’s new release window:
“Deep Silver today announce that their upcoming release Shenmue III has been moved and will now release in 2019.
The extra time will be used to polish the quality of the game even further, to the high standards it deserves and release the product in the best possible timeframe.”
The above explanation is followed up by Yu Suzuki’s own words, which reads:
“To all of our backers, we are very sorry for the delay. After much discussion with our partners, Deep Silver, we have concluded that extending the release will allow us to deliver Shenmue III at its best. We promise to use this time to improve the quality of Shenmue III.
We cannot thank you enough for your enduring support.”
Both letters can be found over on Shenmue 3′s Kickstarter update page. It’ll be interesting to see what Deep Silver and Suzuki and crew will cook up for gamers when 2019 rolls around.
