Respawn Entertainment co-founder, Vince Zampella, was interviewed during the EA Play event this weekend, and he revealed to correspondent Morgan Webb that the next game that the team is working on is called Jedi: Fallen Order.
The game will be about the fall of the Jedi, and players will take on the role of one of the last Jedi in the galaxy, attempting to avoid being hunted down and killed by the Imperial forces. GamersPrey posted up the clip from the EA Play event.
The Jedi: Fallen Order will take place between Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope. Players will take on the role of a Jedi and will be able to use the Force and a lightsaber to fight back against the Imperial forces.
Details on the actual gameplay weren’t revealed, but it sounds like it will be similar to the old Jedi Knight games in terms of the actual gameplay, since it’s likely that it will be a third-person hack-and-slash title rather than a first-person game like Star Wars: Battlefront.
Respawn definitely has the chops to pull off a high-end action-oriented gameplay experience, steeped around cinematic set-pieces and high-octane encounters.
Of course, the game isn’t due out for a long time from now and it won’t be released until next year during the holiday season.
We have no footage of the game, no idea who the Jedi is that players will take control of, or who the main antagonist of the game.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed had a similar plot in the beginning, with Darth Vader going around taking out the remaining Jedi across the galaxy. This time around it appears as if Respawn’s game will be based entirely on that plot point, where the entire narrative will be based around escaping and surviving through Order 66.
We’ll likely get more details at a later date for the upcoming action game from Respawn Entertainment.
