Warhammer: Chaosbane Diablo-Style Action-RPG Announced For PC, PS4, Xbox One

Bigben Interactive, Games Workshop and Eko Software announced that a new isometric action-RPG based on the Chaosbane license will be coming soon in the form of Warhammer; Chaosbane.

The hack-and-slash ARPG will be developed by Eko Software, a French outfit who gained a bit of notoriety for their isometric zombie survival games, How To Survive.

The upcoming game will be published by Bigben Interactive, and will see players taking a deep dive back in the old world as it was being devastated and ravaged by the Chaos.

You’ll have four different races to choose from, including a human, high elf, wood elf, or a dwarf. You’ll also have access to different classes, being able to level up and upgrade your character as you journey across Praag, Nuln, and the old capital of the Empire.

Beyond that brief description we really don’t know much more about Warhammer: Chaosbane, but it dabbles greatly in the kind of medieval horror-fantasy that fans of Diablo might enjoy.

It’s interesting because there’s already another Warhammer game based on the Diablo concept called Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor – Martyr. The game was delayed to June 5th, so technically you could get in on that game and once you get done beating that you’ll have Warhammer: Chaosbane to look forward to in order to keep your appetite for action-RPGs whet.

Of course, you may not want to get your hopes up too high because the Warhammer games have a tendency of being very hit and very miss. Some of them are quite noteworthy, like Vermintide, while others are kind of mediocre like Warhammer 40K: Space Marine. Others are a slog and terrible, like Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War III or Eisenhorn: Xenos.

Essentially you should keep your wits about you and your eyes peeled. You’ll be able to get a firsthand look at Warhammer Chaosbane during E3 this month, so surely it will determine whether or not it will rank among the greats or fall by the wayside among some of the other terrible games based on the widely popular fantasy brand.
