Hunt: Showdown Updated With 3 New Silenced Weapons, Specter 1882 Bayonet, Spectator Mode

Crytek’s cooperative PvPvE shooter, Hunt: Showdown, was recently updated with a brand new selection of weapons and items, along with some standard improvements to the lighting, the gameplay balance, and the new spectator mode.

Over on the Steam community page there’s an update announcing that three new crossbows have been added to the game, including the old-school crossbow, the hand crossbow and the poison crossbow. Each one is designed to fit the varying play-styles of different kinds of gamers, so you can pick and choose how you decide to engage others with the crossbow setups.

Two new silenced variants have been added to the game for the Sparks LRR and Winfield, allowing you to take out foes without making any noise.

They’ve also added throwing knives as a tool, which allows you to get stealth kills as well. The good part about the knives and the crossbow bolts is that you can also retrieve them after using them.

A Specter 1882 Bayonet has also been added to the game as a variant of the pump-action shotgun, so now you can use it to melee and stab people in the face during CQC.

The combat axe has also been added as a melee weapon that occupies a medium slot. It’s designed to be cheap and powerful for newbies.

A new spectator mode has also been implemented, allowing players to spectate after they’ve died. This gives them an opportunity to see where their teammate is and maybe even offer a bit of aid as a ghost in the clouds.

And speaking of clouds… Crytek has lowered the clouds to create a fog effect within the map, which will greatly alter visibility. This will be especially dangerous when traversing through the swamps.

Further fixes have been added to address the game freezes and crashes, along with further improvements to the AI, the audio, the gun balance, and the Hunter stats.

Hunt: Showdown is currently in Early Access over on the Steam store for $29.99.
