Shenmue 1 And 2 Will Use Denuvo, Locked At 30FPS

If you’re looking to pick up Shenmue 1 and 2 this summer for PC, do know that Sega and D3T will have the games using Denuvo, running at 30fps. The Shenmue games coming out on August 21st will also hit PS4 and Xbox One.

Sega has come forth with the official FAQ page for Shenmue 1 and 2, offering up some information that I think PC gamers might find as a deal breaker.

If you like to play games above 60fps or you despise the fact that a title must use Denuvo, it looks like the August set game by Sega and D3T will sport both.

If you want to see Sega disclosing Shenmue 1 and 2 running at 30fps, you can via shenmue.sega.com. The website offers up a list of slide-down questions that answer frequently asked queries.

Upon clicking on the part that reads “Will the games run at 60Hz?” reveals the following answer:

“Throughout the engine, game code and scripts there are hard coded assumptions about a fixed 30Hz frame update rate, so the game needs to run at 30Hz.”

So, yes, it will be locked at 30fps at launch.

Thanks to Steam curator Denuvo Games, we learn that Shenmue 1 and 2 “uses Denuvo.” The dedicated curator’s finding is also backed up by, yet another, vigilant Denuvo finding site pcgamingwiki.com. Both the curator and the site list Shenmue 1 and 2 flaunting the tech.

Not too long ago, we also learned from Sega that Shenmue 1 and 2 will launch physically for PS4 and Xbox One and digitally worldwide. The digital edition is currently available to pre-order via the PS Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam with a 10 percent discount for its $29.99 price point.

If you pre-order Shenmue 1 and 2 you will gain access to the physical edition, a double-sided poster showing characters from the series, and, lastly, a reversible cover art featuring original artwork.

Lastly, if you primarily game on PC and wish to play Shenmue 1 and 2, you now know that Denuvo and 30fps will be a thing.
