Open Discussion: February 24th, 2019

Welcome to the February 24th edition of OAG’s Open Discussion where you can post up anything that you like about video games (or not) and will face no censorship when doing so. This series changes every week, however, it mainly focuses on video games and the like.

Open Discussions pop up every Sunday on this site and explore a wide variety of topics that include technology, interactive entertainment, and other mediums, and like any other post on this site, no comment will face censorship. However, if a comment of yours faces any form of censorship by WordPress or Disqus, please let us know.

With that said and out of the way, this Open Discussion is about the much talked about Xbox and Nintendo rumors. In case you don’t know, Microsoft is rumored to release two Xbox systems code-named “Lockhart” and “Anaconda.” The consoles are said to follow the below listing that website mynintendonews.com sourced from jeuxvideo.com as seen here:

  • Nintendo and Microsoft had several meetings in Redmond regarding their upcoming partnership
  • They confirm Ori and the Blind Forest and Cuphead will come to the Swith.
  • More than 100 Xbox games will be available on Switch via Gamepass and/or X Cloud ( before the end of the year )
  • Rare games could also come to the Switch. No details, but jeuxvideo.com believes Rare Replay could be a good candidate.
  • No mention of Scalebound during their investigation
  • Their sources refuses to say if Nintendo games could end up on Microsoft platforms
  • A high profile Microsoft franchise (Halo, Forza or Gears) could come on the Nintendo Switch. However, they don’t know in what capacity (360 port ? Xbox One game ?). This is still under discussion between Microsoft and Nintendo.
  • Meetings between Nintendo and Microsoft, Ori and the Blind Forest, Cuphead, Gamepass and X Cloud coming to the Switch
  • Halo, Forza or Gears and Rare games coming to the Switch

Furthermore, Xbox “Lockhart” is rumored to sport the following specs:

  • CPU: Custom 8 Cores – 16 zen threads 2
  • GPU: Custom NAVI 4+ Teraflops
  • RAM: 12GB of GDDR6 memory
  • Storage: SSD 1TB NVMe 1 + GB / s

In addition to the above device, the so-called powerhouse of the two, Xbox “Anaconda,” is rumored to feature the following:

  • GPU: Custom NAVI 12+ Teraflops GPU
  • RAM: 16GB of GDDR6 memory

Keep in mind that all of this is a rumor, but Microsoft is said to detail its next-gen consoles at E3 2019, which also includes updates to Xbox Game Pass, new games, and some stuff about Halo: Infinite.

Lastly — you don’t have to stay on topic — whatever is pressing or on your mind is more than welcomed to be inserted in the comment section below.
