If you are looking forward to testing the waters and seeing if your stage will stay up or be taken down due to its spiciness or meme quality in Super Mario Maker 2, then you only have to wait until June 28th, 2019 to do so on Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo released the first entry in the Super Mario Maker series back on September 10th, 2015, for the Wii U and 3DS. Although stages deemed as “troll stages” became a highlight to make in an attempt to see what could grace the world, they were also taken down along with “normal” maps with no rhyme or reason at times.
Well, as of April 24th, 2019, Nintendo has announced that the second iteration in the series of Super Mario Maker will land on store shelves in the next two months. The letter explaining the sequel’s launch date can be read below detailing the ability to make slopes… yes, slopes:
“This full-fledged sequel to the original groundbreaking Super Mario Maker game for the Wii U system lets your imagination run wild as you make and play your own Super Mario courses using new tools, items and features.
With an incredibly intuitive toolset ready to be explored and experimented with, including the new ability to create slopes for the first time, nearly anything is possible in Super Mario Maker 2.”
On a serious note, I wonder if “normal” levels will still face the usual take-downs with no proper explanation or will Nintendo create a system letting frustrated players know why their stages have been taken down even if trolling or inappropriate content is absent? Well, June and beyond will answer all questions.
Lastly, Super Mario Maker 2 will not be made available for the Wii U or 3DS. In other words, the forthcoming Mario map maker will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
