Bethesda Removes Rage 2 Denuvo DRM Because Of “A Few Requests”

Bethesda knows how to be silly for all the wrong reasons. Just today, Rage 2 official update page on Steam reveals that the first-person shooter will no longer sport Denuvo DRM because they “saw a few requests.” Rage 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

According to the new update or “hotfix” seeded by Bethesda — as it is called on the steam community section — we learn that they (Bethesda) look at Denuvo DRM as a minor issue, which only takes “a few requests” for them to rid said game of it:

“Today, we will be deploying a minor PC hotfix very shortly that will address the following issues.”

The following issues fixed include the infamous DRM, occasional crashes related to Scaleform, crash-related problems on startup (because we all know that’s minor), and more:

  • Removes Denuvo DRM (We saw a few requests.)
  • Enables Crash Reporter for error reporting
  • Fixes occasional crash related to Scaleform
  • Fixes occasional crash on startup
  • Fixes issue where Bethesda.net users would always default to English
  • Razer Chroma effects enabled by default

A couple of days ago, we reported that Bethesda purposefully hid Denuvo from folks where upon visiting the SteamDB entry for Rage 2 it wasn’t revealed that the game had Denuvo until May 13th, 2019 (a day before launch). Later, it was found that Rage 2’s DRM caused performance issues, which isn’t a good thing.

Furthermore, it was also reported that the Bethesda store version did not use the infamous anti-tamper tech, which prompt users to speculate why Bethesda would do a thing like that, but now both storefronts now feature a “non-DRM” version of Rage 2.

Personally speaking, I wouldn’t pick this game up even it was free. However, if you are not like me and wish to see what Bethesda, Avalanche Studios, and id Software have in store for buyers, Rage 2 is currently available to snag on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
