There are lots of things being offered in July for the Xbox Game Pass so let’s not waste any time and get right to it. First off, we have the Gears of War 5 multiplayer tech test, it went live on July 17th, going on right now until July 26. With the recent Gears of War 5 smoking censorship controversy still in people’s minds I’m sure the lobbies will be less than full.
On July 17th Night Call was made free for the Xbox Game Pass PC and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Night Call is a film-noir inspired game where you play a taxi driver “recruited” by a corrupt cop to help solve a series of murders lest the murders be pinned on you. You must balance your taxi driver job with and investigating the murders. Non linear story telling and a lot of dialogue.
On July 18th two games were released, The Banner Saga 3 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The Banner Saga 3 was made avaiable for all 3 Xbox Game Passes while Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is just for the Xbox Game and Ultimate Passes. Banner Saga 3 is the final chapter in a critically acclaimed RPG series with viking aesthetics. Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a 3rd person action/adventure stealth game that has been a favorite among the Kojima cult for years.
On July 25th the last three games (For the King, Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition, and Resident Evil 4) for July will be released. For the King and Killer Instinct will be available for all 3 game passes while RE:4 is just for the Xbox and Ultimate passes. According to it’s Steam page, For the King is “… a strategic RPG that blends tabletop and roguelike elements in a challenging adventure that spans the realms.” Killer Instinct is the newest game in the much loved Killer Instinct fighting game series. Finally, RE:4 is the fourth game in the zombie shooting Resident Evil series.
