Bleak Faith: Forsaken, Dark Fantasy Sci-Fi Soulsborne ARPG Targets Steam Early Access

Mišo Vukčević’s amazingly stark and unforgiving Soulsborne action-RPG, Bleak Faith: Forsaken, just barely scrapped by its Kickstarter goal of $30,000. The independent developer, however, is intent on bringing his dark vision of a desolate and violent future to life, which combines a lot of Nordic imagery and thematics with dark fantasy elements.

The upcoming game wrapped up its Kickstarter campaign in August and is currently targeting a late 2019 release into Early Access on Steam.

The game looks phenomenal, by the way. If you see the pitch trailer it’s hard to believe that this is an indie project. The cinematography, the lighting, and especially the visual candor almost make it look like an AAA project.

Most of all, the use of color contrasts and how the characters are filmed and scaled in the trailer is all top notch. I love it. Check it out for yourself below.

The game is receiving nothing but praise, and rightfully so. The use of Heilung’s “Alfadhirhaiti” is also spot on. It perfectly captures the dark intrigue that runs roughshod throughout the post-apocalyptic atmosphere of Bleak Faith.

The game itself is about players taking on the role of one of the last guardians of humanity, and a member of the Forsaken, a small legion of warriors tasked with protecting the Omnistructure, humanity’s last outpost.

The world outside is bleak, dangerous, and unforgiving.

As you can see, there are cultists, monsters, and giants that roam the land, looking to turn you into flesh paste.

The game sports an open-world hub to explore and more tightly corridored maps with linear points of interest sprinkled throughout.

The combat is not unlike Lords of the Fallen or Dark Souls. You’ll have to utilize timing and patience to overcome the odds, and execute skill to take down larger foes.

A really interesting mechanic is the way the AI hunt and grow in the game, as the ecosystem allows them to compete among themselves, becoming stronger and bolder the longer the game goes on.

If all goes as planned, they want the game up and out by the first or second quarter of 2020, followed by a release on the PS4 and Xbox One. Right now they’re scheduling to get the game into Early Access on Steam by the fourth quarter of 2019.
