XIII, Espionage First-Person Shooter Game Delayed To 2020

November 2019 was once the release date for the XIII remake. However, publisher and developer PlayMagic and Microïds have announced that the espionage first-person shooter is set to release in 2020 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

Microïds took to Twitter today to announce the delay to fans by saying the Q4 2019 game has slipped into 2020. The message in the tweet isn’t long, but it does get the point across that gamers and fans alike aren’t going hands-on with this game later this year:

Head of Production at Microïds, François Coulon, has noted the following info:

“We are thrilled with PlayMagic’s work so far. This additional development time is needed to reach the level of polish we’re aiming for. The announcement was greeted by an overwhelming response from the community and we’ll make sure to deliver the best possible game to our fans.”

In other words, XIII is facing a delay to increase development time in needed places. This means the level of polish the team is looking for could only happen through said action.

If you have no idea what XIII is, the upcoming game is a remake of the 2003 first-person shooter developed by Ubisoft Paris and published by Ubisoft. The 16-year-old game is loosely based on the first five volumes of the 1984 Belgian graphic novel series that goes by the same name — XIII.

The story that follows a confused and amnesic man searching for his identity throughout a comic book-style, cel-shaded world, will unravel once again (this time in 2020) showing who killed the President of the United States and a gang of 20 conspirators (The XX) that aim to overthrow the government using the Special Assault and Destroying Sections (SPADS) through a radical movement called Operation Total Red.

Lastly, here’s the official XIII remake trailer that Microïds released three months ago:
