Days Gone Dev Reveals Bend Studio Is Working On Next Title

Whether you love or hate Bend Studio and Days Gone, it looks like the team is working on a new title if one developer’s Linkedin profile is anything to go by as of recent. It’s unclear if this new game is related to the 2019 action-survival title or if it’s something completely different.

On a side note, Bend Studio might return to the classic Syphon Filter franchise that landed in the wild way back in 1999. Additionally, it wouldn’t be out of the norm given that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) filed for Syphon Filter‘s trademark back in 2017.

Anyway, back on topic, website pushsquare.com published a report today highlighting that one of the many heads at Bend Studio, Jeremy Vickery, is now working on a new title. The senior staff lighting lead has this to say on his Linkedin profile:

“I lead the Lighting team on Days Gone and am now involved in preproduction planning for our next title.”

Sadly, no word on the new game has surfaced, but if past job listings serve as an indication as to what is to come, this new game might be a triple-A title.

After Days Gone released in April, publication site segmentnext.com found during early July that Bend Studio is looking for a person to fill the role of a producer. This person is to collaborate with senior producers and other important heads on making a new triple-A game for PS4:

“We are seeking a Producer who will be relied upon to collaborate with senior producers, creative leads, and studio directors to develop, maintain and execute on project planning for your teams. You are the strategic thinker for your team, get out front and lead. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of project management, communication skills and a passion for making games. Help us create our next AAA title that will set the PS4 apart from the rest!”

With all of that said, there’s no doubt that this “new game” is a thing. The true questions that remain unanswered are: how woke will this new game be at launch? How broken will this game release and will it have egregious post-launch updates? And will there be double standards imposed throughout the game that appease social justice activists?

While all those questions stand in line waiting for answers, I’m sure will hear more about this secret project sometime in 2020.

In the meantime, what do you think this game is? A reboot or another Syphon Filter title, a sequel/prequel to Days Gone, or something new?
