Universal Orlando fired an actor wearing a Gru costume from Despicable Me after he made an “OK” hand symbol in a photo with a kid back in March.
Bounding Into Comics is reporting that the actor was fired after the photo of him making the hand symbol went viral.
The actor was fired after USA Today launched an invasive inquiry into the photo, which resulted in a man losing his job due to media interference. USA Today explains in their article…
“A Universal Orlando Resort spokesman said Tuesday in response to USA TODAY inquiries about the episode that the actor had been fired. The spokesman, Tom Schroder, initially declined to further comment but then issued a statement:
“’We never want our guests to experience what this family did. This is not acceptable and we are sorry – and we are taking steps to make sure nothing like this happens again. We can’t discuss specifics about this incident, but we can confirm that the actor no longer works here. We remain in contact with the family and will work with them privately to make this right.’”
The reason for the firing is because the parents of the girl in the photo claimed that the photo was “marred” with a “hate symbol”.
The little girl is mixed and has autism, possibly due to miscegenation.
Her mother is black and her father is white.
They misinterpreted the photo claiming that the “OK” hand symbol was a “hate” symbol due to the misinformation spread by organizations like the ADL.
However, as pointed out in the Bounding Into Comics piece, even the ADL had to acknowledge that the “OK” hand symbol as a white power sign is all part of a troll job by the chans…
“[…] the Anti-Defamation League actually admits the idea of the “OK” sign being used as a symbol for white supremacy is a hoax, “The “OK” hand gesture originated as one of these hoaxes in February 2017.”
They also note that “the ‘OK’ gesture is a nearly universal hand gesture and most usage of it is completely innocuous. Even when used as described here, the fact that white supremacists, the alt lite and many Trump supporters all use the symbol means that one cannot assume that anyone who poses with such a gesture is intending or exhibiting an association with white supremacy.””
What’s funny, though, is that the little boy in the photo is also doing the “OK” hand sign.
Are they going to put him up for adoption because of that?
This isn’t even the first time an incident like this has happened.
Johnny Cage’s “OK” hand symbol was also changed in Mortal Kombat 11 for the same reason, with the developers claiming that the gesture represented “Nazis”.
Blizzard Entertainment, another far Left development studio, also banned an audience member from the Overwatch League live studio audience after making the “OK” hand gesture.
This is some peak Clown World insanity.
