If you happen to game on Nintendo’s Switch and wish to play Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter V, or other ports by Capcom, then according to Street Fighter producer, Yoshinori Ono, you’ll need to pester Nintendo and not Ono and crew for ports or games.
Website nintendolife.com shines a light on Ono’s time at EGX 2019. While there, the producer over Street Fighter took up the opportunity to answer fan questions about a list of things where one query is about bringing Street Fighter IV and V to the Switch.
The answer might surprise some fans, but if you want to play any games that Ono is over, then you need to take it up with Nintendo. Here’s his response to bringing the aforesaid titles to said device:
“Can you go over to the Nintendo booth and maybe just like shout that at the VIPs in the backstage, because they’re the ones you really need to talk to, not me.
Even our previous Nintendo title Ultra Street Fighter II, Nintendo came to us and said we want to do something with Street Fighter II because it’s been 25 years since it came out on previous Nintendo consoles. So, I think they’re the ones you need to convince, so go and mob that booth.”
Keen gamers will recall that Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers and the 30th Anniversary Collection are on the nifty device, but aside from those two titles, it will take — as per Ono — Nintendo to approach the team to make/port games to the Switch.
If you happen to be skeptical of the whole thing, you can check out the video on twitch.tv around the 41-minute mark to see for yourself.
Although he joked throughout the interview, folks won’t be seeing anything related to Street Fighter IV, V, or other games that he played producer to happen on the portable device, unless the Big N approaches Ono and crew.
Last but not least, Street Fighter IV is out now for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices. Street Fighter V is only available on PC and PS4.
