Kojima Says If He Were To Make A Death Stranding Sequel He Would “Start From Zero”

Hideo Kojima is stepping up the number of interviews after his company Kojima Productions released their first game, Death Stranding. Despite Kenichiro Imaizumi leaving the company not long after Death Stranding hit the market, Kojima, in a new interview, says that if he were to make a sequel to the company’s new game the team would have to “start from zero.”

The somewhat lengthy interview touches on a lot of things, a lot of things that die-hard fans and those familiar with the making of Death Stranding would already know. However, there are some morsels in there that highlight what the future could hold for Death Stranding fans and what Kojima might bring to the games market next.

According to the interview between Kojima and vulture.com, we learn that if he did make another game in the realm of Death Stranding, he would do the following:

“Kojima discusses working with the actor [Norman Reedus] again, perhaps on a Death Stranding sequel — though if he were to create such a thing, he “would start from zero.”

I’m not sure if starting “from zero” means he would approach it (the sequel) as a new project that brings something fresh instead of doing the “same thing” as website metalgearinformer.com hypothesizes, or does he mean literally starting from zero and rebuilding everything from the ground up to make a sequel?

Not too long ago, we reported on Kojima wanting to “challenge” the horror genre in that he wants to tackle a scary-like game. I’m not sure if the horror game is next, or if he is thinking about doing a sequel of sorts to Death Stranding given his new response to Vulture, but we’ll find out in the near future.

While we wait to see what the guy who believes his body is “made up of 70% of movies” is going to do next video game-wise, Death stranding is out now for PS4 and will release for PC via Steam sometime during the summer of 2020.

With all of that said, do you want to see Kojima tackle a horror game or a sequel to Death Stranding, or could you do without his work?
