The last character revealed for the superhero game that isn’t shy to jump in bed with controversy was Kamala Khan. However, Marvel’s Avengers will only launch with six playable characters, which means the other playable heroes are either coming as free or paid DLC.
I’m sure if you’ve been following this game, you’re thinking, “But, Square Enix said that all post-launch heroes and regions are free!” Yes, and Bethesda and Activision made promises regarding Fallout 76 and Black Ops 4, too. In other words, anyone can say anything.
While we wait to see if the devs behind this game stick to their guns and keep all future content like characters and stages free of charge, website GameRant reports that the action-adventure title will only have six playable characters at launch.
The website in question sees Crystal Dynamics studio head, Scot Amos, explaining that half a dozen is what fans will get come May 2020:
“The Hero Missions are reserved for the single-player and put the player in front of levels built for the use of a particular hero and enhance the characteristics… Going forward you will also unlock the Warzone missions, playable with any hero and at any time, both in single-player and cooperative mode (up to four players). The only restriction is that you will necessarily need to select different heroes: no Hulk-only teams! To give more choices, after the launch other heroes will be published, in addition to the six that you will have initially available, available for free for the players.”
On this journey, gamers can pick from Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, the Hulk, Thor, and Kamala Khan. However, I’m assuming the section shown earlier this year with Ant-Man is a DLC tease? Anyway, here’s the seventh hero courtesy of YouTuber RabidRetrospectGames:
Although the action-adventure game will have free content, do know that it will have microtransaction in the form of “custom outfits” that you can purchase, which means Marvel’s Avengers is a live-service title at heart.
Anyway, if this game seems interesting to you, then you have until May 15th, 2020, before it lands on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
